Leonid Urjuk is an extraordinary artist from the Republic of Tyva. Leonid was born in the former Soviet Republic of Tuva (now Tyva) in southern Siberia, near the Mongolian border. His parents were nomads. He studied art at the local college and then continued on his own in Moscow to complete his education there. He is a graduate of the Moscow Surikov Art Academy.

His works have been shown at many exhibitions. He works in several different art styles that gives rise to mild surprise in critics and judges of his art. He uses the modern graphic, avant garde, and linocut styles, an incomplete list of his styles, with which to express his vision of traditions of the Tuvan people. Art connoisseurs could see Leonid's works at many exhibitions in Moscow, Siberia, and Tyva, but since that time many of his works can also be seen in private collections in America. Leonid Urjuk currently lives and works in the United States.
